Provide Background Details and Rationale: The College Board is offering AP Cyber Security nationally starting the 2026-2027 School year. The Park Hill School District would like to offer this course during the 2026-2027 school year. AP Cybersecurity is a broad introduction to the field of cybersecurity aligning closely with an introductory cybersecurity course offered at a standard first year college. Students explore specific vulnerabilities, attacks, mitigations, and detection measures across a variety of domains including physical spaces, computer networks, devices, and data and applications. Throughout the course, students consider the impact of cybersecurity on individuals, organizations, governments and societies. This will be on review until October 9, 2025, when it is presented to the board for final approval. Notice of the review will be communicated via “Board Highlights” email and posted on the district website informing patrons of the proposed adoption. Upon student completion of the course and earning a qualifying score on the AP Cybersecurity test, a student can take a test to earn a Cyber Security Credential. This will be on review until October 9, 2025, when it is presented to the board for final approval. Notice of the review will be communicated via “Board Highlights” email and posted on the district website informing patrons of the proposed adoption.
