Provide Background Details and Rationale:

A team of Park Hill K-5 teachers, instructional coaches, reading interventionists, and leaders evaluated our current elementary ELA resource and curriculum as part of our regular curriculum cycle review process. In addition, the team explored and evaluated several other resources. Based on feedback from our teachers, the team selected Benchmark Advance to pilot in the 2025-2026 school year. Benchmark Advance is a comprehensive core language arts program designed to align with the principles of the science of reading. Its primary goal is to foster the development of strong literacy skills in students, ensuring they can read, comprehend, and express themselves effectively across various contexts. By integrating phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension strategies, Benchmark Advance offers a structured, research-based approach to literacy instruction.
