Provide Background Details and Rationale: STEMscopes is an elementary science curriculum resource for kindergarten through 8th grade. Built on the 5E (Engage, Explore, Explain, Evaluate, Extend) lesson model, STEMscopes Science combines research-based teaching strategies with the invaluable insight of real-life educators to provide a carefully curated, rigorous curriculum that both challenges and sparks the curiosity of students. Students learn best through hands-on experiences, exploration of ideas, interpretation of what they observe, and their ability to relate scientific concepts to the world. STEMscopes Science creates a student centered learning environment where students actually do science. The STEMscopes resource is used in Park Hill K-8 classrooms. Based on 2022-2023 Science Curriculum and Resource feedback, teachers believe STEMscopes meets their needs to support science standards and would like to continue with STEMscopes. Teachers like the hands-on components and the variety of activities offered in STEMscopes. We will continue to gather feedback from teachers regarding the STEMscopes resource through curriculum surveys. Reviewed by General Counsel.
Provide Funding Source and Estimated Cost: $121,426.77 from the Elementary Resource budget
