Provide Background Details and Rationale: The purpose of our social studies curriculum review was to review and revise curriculum to better align with Missouri Learning Standards. Through the regular continuous improvement and curriculum revision process, we applied our learning of culturally responsive teaching practices and our DEIB Drivers and Narratives.
A team of teachers, instructional coaches, and the Director of Elementary Education collaborated together to review alignment to standards and curriculum resources, made minor changes to the scope and sequence, removed and replaced problematic resources, and reviewed a variety of social studies resources.
Full implementation of the updated social studies curriculum will occur in the 2024-2025 school year.
