2018-2019 Updated Calendar Due to Impact of Snow Days (BOE 2-28-19).pdf
Provide Background Details and Rationale: The 2018-2019 Calendar was approved by the Board of Education on January 25, 2018 (attached). To date, during the 2018-2019 School Calendar Year, the district has cancelled school 9 times due to inclement weather. Administration is recommending proposed changes to the 2018-2019 Academic Calendar to include 7.5 make-up days and to waive 1.5 instructional days and 1.5 teacher contract days. A copy of the proposed updated calendar is attached which shows students proposed last full day of school to be June 3, 2019, teachers proposed last full day to be June 4, 2019 and Summer School proposed start date for Elementary, Middle School, High School Session 1 and ESY students to be Thursday, June 6, 2019. (Note - Teachers Summer School Work Day to be June 5th.)

If the district has to cancel classes due to any additional inclement weather day(s), students last day and teachers last day will be adjusted, as follows:

1st additional inclement weather day
Students last full day = June 4, 2019
Teachers last full day = June 5, 2019
Summer School starts = June 10, 2019

2nd additional inclement weather day
Students last full day = June 5, 2019
Teachers last full day = June 6, 2019
Summer School starts = June 10, 2019

If additional inclement weather days happen, the calendar would continue to be adjusted by adding day(s) and the start date for Summer School would be adjusted accordingly.
