The 2024 regular season has concluded for Park Hill South's FIRST Robotics Team 5126 Electromagnetic Panthers (EMP), and their robot, TEMPO. After winning the Greater Kansas City Regional, the team is competing in the FIRST Championships in Houston. At the Greater Kansas City Regional, EMP went 5-7 in the qualifying rounds and was selected by the captain of the third-seeded alliance for the double-elimination rounds. The third-seeded alliance (Smith-Cotton, Rockhurst and Park Hill South High Schools) went 5-0 in the playoffs, winning the event! As a member of the winning alliance, EMP earned its second invitation to compete at the FIRST Championships in Houston from April 17 to 20. Out of the 3,600 teams worldwide, EMP will be one of 600 teams competing at the international competition. EMP also won the Spirit Award at the Greater Kansas City Regional. This award goes to the team that celebrates extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit through exceptional partnership and teamwork, furthering FIRST's objectives. Danny Henson is the school's Robotics Coach. |
